First Source: New Staff, New Energy
With the addition of new Program Manager Blake Roberts Crall, the First Source Jobs Program is gearing up for a busy summer and a fall roll out of a sector-specific cohort program.
Blake joined the SCC staff in early June.
Approximately 40 participants are receiving employment support services through contracts that seek to specifically serve residents of public housing and SCALE students. This is a great way for us to reach our target populations.
Career Ready 101
The First Source Jobs Program is now able to offer a resource for participants who want to improve their reading, writing, math and work readiness skills. Career Ready 101 is a self-paced, adaptive, online remediation system. It includes additional features, such as a resume builder, career exploration by category and skill level, interest survey, calendar to view assignments, and a portfolio of all of a student’s work. SCC has laptops available for participants who would like to access this from our office, or you can do it from home.
Training for Health Care
We are looking for participants who would like to join the Partners HealthCare/Project Hope Training and Employment Program. This is a free, eight-week-long unpaid training designed for individuals interested in entry-level employment within one of the Partners HealthCare member institutions. The training consists of four weeks of classroom instruction, and a four-week internship in a basic clerical or support staff position. The program will prepare participants for secure positions such as administrative assistant, unit coordinator, patient service coordinator, operation room assistant and many others.
Seeking Staffperson
The First Source Jobs Program also is seeking a career coach to join our Economic Opportunity team. Please share this information with your professional circles.
