New Hires and Interns!

Carolina 

Carolina joined the Real Estate team as our new property manager this past winter. She has over 9 years of property management experience.

Magdalena 

Magda was born and raised in Chile, surrounded by mountains and hope after the end of Augusto Pinochet’s dictatorship. Before entering college she joined an NGO where she started building affordable housing and participated in the educational program. 

In university, she studied sociology and joined many student protests. In 2018 she came to the US and worked at a pizza restaurant, experiencing life as an immigrant under very vulnerable conditions. She is incredibly motivated to work for people and their rights. 

Alex 

Alex joined SCC as a project manager in June 2020. He brings experience in municipal housing policy and community engagement.

Marcia

Originally from Brazil, Marcia Arlington joined SCC on April 2020 as part of our First Source team.  As a temp, her role is to provide assistance and support to individuals looking to apply for Unemployment benefits during the Covid-19 Pandemic.  Prior to joining SCC Marcia was working as Certified Portuguese Interpreter for the Legal System around the greater Boston area.  Marcia has a B.A. in Psychology from Cambridge College and her ongoing studies are focused on a  Holistic approach and the use of Altenative Medicine to treat most commom mental health issues. Marcia is very passionate about her Mindfulness Meditation and yoga practices. Among the things she enjoys the most are to be outdoor exploring nature, going camping, hiking, biking, or taking a long road trip.

Fatima

Fatima joined SCC in the spring as part of our First Source team.  As a temp, her role is to provide assistance and support to individuals looking to apply for Unemployment benefits during the Covid-19 Pandemic.

SUMMER INTERNS

Addy

Originally from Mill Valley, California, Addison is a rising senior at Tufts University and the SCC Tisch Summer Fellow for FY 2020. She studies Community Health and Science, Technology & Society. During her time as a student community organizer with the Tufts Dining Workers and Boston’s Local 26 in their fight to secure a fair contract with the Tufts administration, she helped organize over 20 events in varying scales across the Tufts campus, including the first ever workers picket in Tufts history that amassed over 1300 Tufts students, faculty, and community members (including a few SCC staff!). Post-grad, she hopes to stay involved in community-led organizations to represent those whose voices have been silenced and empower them to fight for the right to live the life they deserve. In her free time, she loves to cook, travel, and spend time with friends and family, especially swimming at the upper Mystic Lakes!

Marina

Marina was born in Puerto Rico but grew up in Cambridge. Currently she is a junior at UMass Amherst studying sustainable community development. She is very passionate about social justice issues such as housing justice and environmental justice. During her free time, she loves to take pictures and sit in the sun! 

Giavanna

Giavana is our SCC Intern working on rental assistance. Tufts Class of 2022 majoring in Political Science and Psychology. 

Jordan

Jordan joins us as this summer’s MassCEC Clean Energy Intern. He is a Junior at Tufts University studying Mathematics. Jordan will be working with the SCC Real Estate division to aid in SCC’s efforts to “green” their energy portfolio, by applying to energy retrofit programs, coordinating solar energy installation projects, and creating an inventory of our homes’ heating systems. He is passionate about SCC’s commitment to help the community of Somerville and looks forward to combining his interest in clean energy with community development.
