First Source Jobs Hosts February Workshop Series

Throughout the month of February, the Somerville First Source Jobs Initiative will be hosting a series of workshops and trainings to help you find the position you’re looking for, and build the hard and soft skills to be successful on the job.

Wednesday, February 18th (Rescheduled from February 10th due to snow) 
3:00-4:00pm – How to Identify you Skills
4:00-5:00pm – Tell Me About Yourself

Do you have a hard time getting ready for a job interview?  It’s difficult for you to answer the interview questions with confidence and assertiveness? The workshops offered by a professional in career development will help you to feel more prepared.

Friday, February 20th
1:00-3:00pm – Job Seekers Support Group

The Job Seekers Support Group is a space for job seekers to share their experiences in the job search process and networking with other job seekers.  This will also be a time for non-native English speakers to practice their language skills in a safe and comfortable environment.

No registration required. This is a drop-in event

Tuesday, February 24th
3:00-4:00pm – How to Communicate at Work
Addressing a problem at work or even identifying what is the right way to tell your boss that you have to be absent could be very difficult.  During this workshop you will learn the best practices to communicate at work.

4:00-5:00pm – Application Draft SheetFilling out a job application the right way is as important as having a good resume.  During this workshop, a career development professional will teach you what are the most common mistakes and best practices when filling a job application.

Nanny Training
Do you want to brush up on your child care skills to enhance your career? Are you interested in breaking into this field and building a strong foundation to be successful as a nanny? Join us for this three-day training that will help you reach these goals!

3:00-5:00pm – Orientation

Thurs, Feb 26
9:00am – 5:00pm – Workshops on Childhood Development, Behavior, and Professional Practices

Fri, Feb 27
9:00am – 5:00pm – CPR and First Aid Certification Training

  • Cost of the training is $50.00 to cover the CPR and First Aid certifications
  • People enrolled are required to attend the three days of training
  • Spaces are limited. Priority will be given to First Source participants
