BREAKING NEWS: MassDOT/MBTA and Jobs for Somerville Sign MOU For Local Jobs Program on Green Line Extension

After nearly three years of organizing for local jobs on the Green Line Extension, we have reached an important milestone! On June 18, officials from the cities of Cambridge, Medford, and Somerville, legislators, labor unions, and community partners joined MBTA General Manager Dr. Beverly Scott and other representatives from MassDOT and MBTA to formalize the creation of the Massachusetts Workforce Initiative Now (MassWIN) Green Line Extension (GLX) Workforce Development program to identify, assess, train, and place community members into transportation related careers. MassWIN-GLX (Workers programRead MoreThe program will help low-income and minority residents of Cambridge, Somerville, and Medford get access to training and job placement on the construction of the Green Line Extension. Along with our Somerville First Source Jobs Program, the MassWIN-GLX program will help to create additional career opportunities for job seekers in Somerville. A special thanks to our Somerville Legislators: Senator Jehlen, Representative Provost, Representative Toomey, and Former Representative Sciortino for their dedication and commitment to helping us make this goal a reality.
