Every summer we plan a work-free, all-fun evening for our members to get together, enjoy good food, swap stories of what we’ve been up to, and relax. The whole family is welcome and encouraged to come. Last year we started the tradition of an open-mic talent show, which surpassed our expectations! Bring a song, a poem, a skit, or anything else you’d like to share with the crowd.
Less than 6 months after its kick-off, the Somerville First Source Jobs Program is celebrating its 16th job placement. These placements include part-time and full-time jobs in different industries, including restaurants, retail stores, and banks around Somerville. SCC's 75 Cross St. property in East Somerville contains eight affordable apartments that are home to formerly homeless households, some of them families. The building provides project-based Section 8 affordable housing to tenants. Read more about 75 Cross Street
AHOC works to educate community members about the need for affordable housing, influence policy at the state and local level, and engage community members through actions, campaigns, and discussions. Formed in 2000, AHOC supports developments and policies that increase the supply of affordable housing in Somerville and make it more accessible to low-income families.
