On December 13th, SCC hosted a double-header evening of festivities: the Cake Party and our 2nd PechaKucha . First, our second annual Cake Party! This is an end-of year event to bring members together to enjoy a social evening, and to celebrate the work of this past year. We also very much appreciate the donations we received to support our work! We’ve started a tradition to raffle off cakes at the event. Thanks to all of you who contributed gorgeous cakes to the party. The winners left the party with cakes and smiles.
Immediately following the Cake Party we walked down our back stairs to go to the Remnant Brewery at Bow Market, where we held Volume 2 of the PechaKucha Night. That night we learned about food recovery, we heard about the travails of home ownership, and we shared a few toasts. Read more about 2nd Annual Cake Party and PechaKucha Festivities!

In late September, the SCC Board of Directors adopted a new 5-year strategic plan for SCC’s work to cover the years 2019-2023. This reflects a year of work in various committees, task forces, and communication with stakeholders. Meant to be a “living document” rather than a plan that gathers dust on the shelf, SCC’s strategic plan charts a bold vision for the next 5 years – not really a departure, but rather building on our work of the last several years.
