SCC's 75 Cross St. property in East Somerville contains eight affordable apartments that are home to formerly homeless households, some of them families. The building provides project-based Section 8 affordable housing to tenants. Read more about 75 Cross Street

On Monday, June 9th, community leaders, Mayor Curtatone, and members of SCC's board and staff gathered for a breakfast to launch SCC's Social Equity Campaign. This campaign is SCC's largest donor campaign in its history, with the goal of raising $180,000 by the end of 2014, and $250,000 in 2015 as part of our 5 Year Campaign to keep Somerville diverse and thriving for everyone.
SCC committees and members are playing an active role in the Union United Coalition, a group of stakeholders working to ensure that the Union Square redevelopment results in tangible benefits — not displacement — for the Union Square community. Somerville Community Corporation is proud to partner with Cambridge Neighborhood Apartment Housing Services (CNAHS), a Cambridge-based organization which helps struggling homeowners navigate the painstaking process of obtaining mortgage modifications. Through this partnership, SCC staff provides financial education counseling to CNAHS’s Somerville customers. CNAHS, in turn, will continue to offer foreclosure prevention counseling and loan modification assistance to Somerville homeowners at risk of foreclosure. Read more about Foreclosure Prevention
