First-Time Homebuyers

Somerville Community Corporation offers a comprehensive education program for First-Time Homebuyers. The four-session, 12-hour series features presentations from a real estate agent, a lender, a home inspector, a real estate attorney, and an insurance agent. Together with SCC staff, these experts in the field provide valuable information and insight into each stage of the home buying process. Download the schedule of classes (PDF format). 

Upon completion of the course, participants receive a certificate that enables them to access products geared specifically towards first-time homebuyers such as the ONE and MassHousing loans. The classes are taught in English. Pre-registration is required, and the registration fee is $45 per person. Participants must attend all sessions in order to receive the certificate.

    Register for the Online Course

    We are now offering The Road Home, which offers homebuyer training online. Although the bulk of the course is done on your own time, you are required to attend one in-person session at the Somerville Community Corporation (directions). This two-hour session is held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on the dates listed below:
